NASSAU, Bahamas – Three games, three wins for the Truman State University men’s basketball team on the 2018 Bahamas Tour. Friday night in Sir Kendal Isaacs Gymnasium, the Bulldogs were outscored for the first two quarters all trip, but persevered for a 15-point victory over the NPBA All Stars, 98-83.
Brodric Thomas led all scorers with 24 points and was the only Bulldog to score in double figures for each of the team’s three games with an average of 16.7 points per outing. Thomas was just one of five scorers in double figures for the Purple and White on Friday along with Cade McKnight (22), Turner Scott (11), Taurin Hughes (10), and Alex McQuinn (pictured, 10). The other leaders for Truman included McKnight with nine rebounds (one shy of double-double for second-straight game), Scott with six assists and Thomas with five steals, four of which were in the first half.
In the first quarter, Truman and its opponent went back and forth with both teams having a lead of at least four points to go with three ties. The Bulldogs then turned in another breakout second-quarter effort with 28 points to the NPBA All Stars’ 16 and went into the locker room with a 10-point advantge, 48-38.
The Purple and White were outscored again in the third quarter, this time by six, 27-21, but led by four, 69-65, heading into the fourth period. However, Truman finished strong and outscored its opponent by 11 in the fourth quarter, 29-18.
