ROLLA – Missouri S&T’s volleyball team has earned the USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award for the 12thconsecutive year from the American Volleyball Coaches Association and United States Marine Corps.
Teams with a grade point average of 3.30 or better on a 4.0 scale – or a 4.10 on a five-point scale – are eligible for the honor.
Missouri S&T was among 1,275 collegiate and high school teams nationwide to earn the honor for the past season, including 161 schools from the NCAA Division II level and 10 from the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The 12 consecutive seasons in which the Miners have been presented this award matches the 10th-longest active streak among NCAA Division II institutions and second-longest among GLVC schools.
Missouri S&T finished the 2020-21 season, which was played during the spring semester, with a record of 14-7. The Miners captured the GLVC West Division championship and reached the championship game of the GLVC Tournament for the first time in program history.
