WARRENSBURG – Olivia Nelson scored 24 points and made 12 free throws to lead Central Missouri Jennies basketball to an 88-80 victory over the Central Oklahoma Bronchos Thursday, Jan. 13, inside the Multipurpose Building.
The Jennies (11-6, 7-3 MIAA) are scheduled to host the Newman Jets Saturday, Jan. 15, at 1 p.m.
Nelson, a redshirt freshman point-guard from Kansas City, Mo., went 5-of-9 from the field, 2-of-3 from three-point range and converted 12 free-throws in 14 attempts for her game-high 24 points, and added five assists and a pair of steals to her ledger.
Nija Collier (23 points), Brooke Littrell (20 points) and Ali Vigil (10 points) also reached double figure points for Central Missouri, with Collier and Littrell each pulling down a team-best eight rebounds.
The Jennies shot 52 percent from the floor, going 25-of-48, and were 40 percent from beyond-the-arc, converting six of 15 threes. UCM went an impressive 32-of-40 at the free-throw line for 80 percent.
Central Missouri outrebounded Central Oklahoma (10-6, 6-4 MIAA), 37-32, and outscored the Bronchos off turnovers (22-20), on second-chance points (18-16) and fast-break points (13-2).
Kelsey Johnson paced UCO with a double-double, scoring 21 points while tallying 11 rebounds.
The Bronchos went 31-of-72 from the field for 43 percent and 9-of-26 from downtown for 35.
