KANSAS CITY – Karina Ramirez of Cottey has been named the NAIA National Softball Player of the Week and Shelbey Cornelson of Oklahoma City has been named the NAIA National Softball Pitcher of the Week, the national office announced Tuesday. The two players were selected based on their performances on the week of February 28 – March 6 and were selected out of a pool of conference and Continental Athletic Conference award winners.
Ramirez was a force for Cottey in six games last week. The junior went 11-20 at the plate and slugged .950 with 15 RBI and seven stolen bases out of the leadoff spot.
Cornelson racked-up 38 strikeouts in her six outings last week. The Stars’ hurler recorded five wins and a 1.48 ERA last week, with one of those wins coming in a 10-3 victory over NCAA DI Grambling.
