COLUMBIA – The Truman Women’s Basketball team dropped their exhibition opener to the University of Missouri, 94-55, on Thursday night at Mizzou Arena. Freshman Hannah Belanger led Truman in scoring with 15 points, all in the second half.
The Tigers scored the first 16 points of the game and had a 25-0 run in the first half to race out to a 55-19 halftime lead.
The Bulldogs outscored Mizzou 18-15 in the third quarter with Sloane Totta hitting double figures with 12 during that 10 minute stretch.
Totta finished with 14 points while Maddie Re finished with eight points and a game-high 12 rebounds.
Mizzou was led by their freshmen Aijha Blackwell and Hayley Frank. The duo went for 47 points and was 7-of-9 from distance. Blackwell led all scorers with 25 points.
The Bulldogs will compete against Illinois State in a scrimmage next Tuesday night before opening the season at Quincy against Wisconsin-Parkside on November 9.
