CARROLLTON, Texas – The third round of the UCM Southern Invitational was canceled as poor weather left the course unplayable Tuesday morning. As a result, Central Missouri took home the win in the nine-team field. They edged out Central Oklahoma by a single stroke, shooting a +53, 629.
After shooting a +31, 319 in round one, the Jennies were at +22, 310 in round two. Despite UCO shooting the low round for the tournament with a 307 on day two, the Jennies held on to win by a stroke. UCM and UCO separated from the field on day two with Harding finishing in third place, 11 shots behind the Jennies.
The win is the eighth all-time for Jennies Golf. They’ve won at least one tournament each year since 2016-17.
Olivia Sobaski moved up five places from ninth place into fourth. She shot a +2, 74 on day two, tied for the second-lowest in the round and finished nine-over-par with a 153. Sobaski carded three birdies, the most for UCM in the round. She also had 23 pars, second-most in the field. Her day started with a pair of birdies on the front-nine and she was one-under-par midway through the round. She hit another birdie on 12 and was even through 16 holes, but back-to-back bogies pushed her to a plus-two for the afternoon.
Not far behind Sobaski was Rosie Klausner. Klausner tied for sixth place with a +13, 157. Klausner shot a +6, 78 in round one and followed that with a +7, 79 in round two. She hit her first birdie of the tournament on hole nine and was three-over-par nine holes into round two. Her bogey on 10 and three-straight on 16-18 to close the round per her seven-over-par for the round. Like Sobaski, Klausner also finished with 23 pars, the second-most in the field. She also finished as the leading scorer on par-four holes shooting four-over-par.
Clarie Solovic finished in the top-10 for UCM in her first ever tournament. The freshman shot a +8, 80 in round two and tied for eighth with a +14, 158. For the second straight day, Solovic found her footing on the back-nine. She started her day +6 after the first nine holes. She closed the round two-over-par for her final nine holes with a birdie and five pars. Solovic’s four birdies, two in each round, led the Jennies.
Elizabeth Leath made one of the biggest jumps in the field. She climbed 16 spots into a tie for 13th place after round two. She shot a +5, 77 in round two and after 36 holes scored +17, 161. Leath hit a birdie on both the front and back-nines giving her three for the tournament. She finished her day even-par over the final four holes.
Macie Myers is the final Jennie in the field. She tied for 46th place with a +37, 181. She finished her day on a strong note with a birdie on 18, her second birdie of the afternoon.
Allycia Gan of Missouri Western and Alex Naumovski of Regis shared the individual win at +6, 150. They were two strokes ahead of third place and three ahead of Sobaski in fourth.
The Southern Invitational was played in Carrollton, Texas at the Indian Creek Golf Course. The course is a par-72 that measure 5893 yards.
