SPRINGFIELD — The first NCAA-II Midwest Regional rankings were released today, and the Drury Lady Panthers sit at number one in the region. Drury is 25-0, 16-0 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, and is 20-0 within the region. They are also ranked number one in the NCAA-II coaches’ poll.
Ashland, also undefeated at 25-0, is ranked second while Grand Valley State (22-2), whose only two losses came against Ashland, is third.
Four other teams from the GLVC are ranked in the region’s top 10 as Southern Indiana is ranked sixth, Lewis is eighth, Lindenwood is at number nine, while Truman State is 10th.
The rankings determine the NCAA-II tournament field, with eight teams from each of the eight regions advancing to the national tournament. The top-ranked team in each region has the opportunity to host their respective regional tournament. The rankings will be updated each week, with the final ranking announced on Sunday, March 8th.
The Lady Panthers are home on Thursday when they host Truman State at 5:45 pm at the O’Reilly Family Event. The Bulldogs own the second-best record in the GLVC and is 17-6 with a 13-3 mark in the league. Tickets can be ordered online or at 417-873-7000.
