JEFFERSON CITY – The Lincoln men’s indoor track & field team remains the No. 1 team in the land while the LU women’s track & field team is still No. 2 nationally in the latest United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Division II rankings, released on Tuesday.
The Blue Tiger men, who took over the No. 1 ranking in NCAA Division II last week, collected 142.87 points to top this week’s ratings. Ashland (136.94 points), Tiffin (131.80) and Colorado-Mines (122.57) are respectively ranked second through fourth, while American International rounds out the top-five with 102.73 points. Missouri Southern (102.72) and Northwest Missouri (80.52) are respectively ranked No. 6 and No. 7, and two other MIAA programs – No. 12 Central Missouri (66.93) and No. 21 Pittsburg State (41.08) – appear in the national top-25.
The Lincoln women continue to hold the nation’s No. 2 ranking after garnering 137.34 points this week, placing the Blue Tigers behind only Grand Valley State, which received 210.12 points. Northwest Missouri (127.72) is No. 3 and Missouri Southern (126.86) is No. 4, giving the MIAA three programs in the national top-five. Other ranked programs from theMIAA include No. 16 Pittsburg State (55.85) and No. 24 Central Missouri (31.49).
