LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis volleyball team has been honored with the 2020-21 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award.
UMSL earns the honor for the 11th time since the award originated in 1992-93, and has been recognized for the seventh straight year under head coach Ryan Young, who just completed his 10th season.
The Tritons finished the academic year with a 3.75 cumulative grade point average and were also recognized as being among the top 20 percent of team GPAs. They were one of 33 NCAA DII teams listed on the Team Academic Honor Roll for that distinction.
On the court, UMSL finished the shortened 2020-21 season with a 16-3 record, winning the GLVC Central Division and concluding the year with a No. 12 national ranking by the AVCA. The Tritons had three players named First Team All-GLVC, including junior outside hitter Charlotte Richards, who was tabbed the GLVC Player of the Year.
