JEFFERSON CITY – For the second time this season, Sai Witt was selected by the Black College Sports Network as its Small School Men’s Basketball Player of the Week.
Witt had a double-double against Northwest Missouri, the No. 3 team in the National Association of Basketball Coaches’ Division II poll, on Thursday night (Jan. 28). Witt scored 22 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in the two-point loss, recording his fifth double-double of the season, putting him fifth in NCAA Division II in that stat. In Saturday’s (Jan. 30) 95-74 win over Missouri Western, ranked No. 23 in the NABC Division II poll, Witt had eight boards and led all scorers with 28 points.
This is the third time this season that a Blue Tiger has been selected as the BCSN Small School Men’s Basketball Player of the Week. Quinton Drayton was recognized last week (Jan. 27) after averaging 26.5 points in games against Rogers State and Northeastern State, while Witt was honored on Dec. 22 for notching a 19-point, 13-rebound double-double in a road win over Emporia State. Witt was also selected as the MIAA Player of the Week after leading Lincoln to a victory over then No. 21 Missouri Southern on Nov. 28.
Lincoln tips off a five-game road trip on Tuesday evening, as the Blue Tigers head to Edmond, Okla. to play Central Oklahoma at 6:00 p.m. CST.
